This year has been rather hard on the club. Members have been dealing with health issues and loss of family members. Unfortunately, our website has taken a back seat. However, we are looking forward to 2019 being a better year and hope to get back on track.
Our next meeting will be held on December 5th at Sport Café off of Hwy. 70 and St. Charles Rock Road. Meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. but feel free to come early to get a bite to eat and chat with members.
We have a tentative tournament schedule with an Open Buddy Bass Tournament in October at Lake of the Ozarks. As soon as the schedule is finalized, it will be posted. We are also hoping to get all of the tournament information posted on the event calendar.
February 23, 2018 will be the club’s annual Mouse Racing Fundraiser. Please check back for information concerning this fun event.
We hope every one has a happy Thanksgiving and a Blessed Christmas.
At the end of each year, the ladies hold a business meeting where the By-Laws and Tournament Rules are reviewed and an election of officers is held for the coming year.
The officers for 2018 will be:
President – Leslie Anderson
Vice President – Lulu Kaonohi
Tournament Director – Kristen Harper
Secretary – Melissa Bigtas
Treasurer – Bonnie Katke
Webmaster – Lisa Opfer
With the New Year roaring in with lots of cold weather, I am positive all the ladies are looking forward to warmer weather and getting a line wet!
The Gateway Bass ‘n Gals held their 2017 Awards Banquet on January 3rd at Big A’s restaurant located on Main Street in St. Charles, MO. Every year we honor members in our club who were most successful fishing our tournaments the previous year. We also recognize one member for her outstanding participation in club activities.
Leslie Anderson, pictured here, took Angler of the Year. Not only does Leslie fish all of the Gateway Bass ‘n Gals tournament, but she also fishes with the Lady Bass Angler’s Association, the premier women’s pro bass tour.
Bonnie Katke, the club’s esteemed treasurer, took Bass ‘n Gal of the Year.
Karen Menger took third place and Kristen Harper, the club’s tournament director (in the middle) took fourth place.
Sarah Butler came in fifth place.
The Rookie of the Year was Lulu Kaonohi. When Lulu first joined the club she owned a Jon boat which she and her father had completely redone. After fishing the club tournaments, she decided to invest in a fiberglass boat and now has a Stratos bass boat powered by a 115hp motor.
The great thing is we are all women who LOVE to fish and we encourage others who like to fish. We are looking for a few new club members who, not only like to fish, want to have fun. Even if you are new to bass fishing, we will help you with every aspect from what line to use to picking out tackle. You’ll fit right in, no matter what your experience is.
We hold our club meetings at 7:00 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month at Rookie’s Bar & Grill located at 3721 New Town Blvd., St. Charles, MO 63301. Come early and enjoy some good food!!!
