Several members of the Gateway Bass ‘n Gals fished in the Lady Bass Anglers Association (LBAA) Lake Hartwell tournament held on April 15 and 16.
Leslie Anderson, Lynda Gessner and Robbie Hartline fished as pros in this two day event while Lisa Opfer fished as a co-angler. While the initial fishing reports looked very promising, a cold front and wind played havoc with the anglers on tournament day. Due to the high wind, anglers were launched in order from the Gum Branch Mega Ramp and once the boat hit the water it was game on!
On Day 1 Lynda managed a limit of 5, for a total weight of 12.68 which included big bass of 5.72. Robbie brought 3 to the scales for a weight of 6.88 and Leslie managed 1 keeper for 1.2. Lisa managed to bring in a co-angler limit of 3 keeper (her first every limit) which weighed 5.28 lbs and included a big bass of 2.71. At the end of weigh in on Day 1, Lynda was in 3rd place, Robbie was in 9th and Leslie was in 17th and on the co-angler side Lisa was sitting in 3rd.
The weather on Day 2 wasn’t much better and the wind seemed to actually be blowing harder. Unfortunately, Lisa wasn’t able to make the necessary adjustments to get any keepers. Lynda brought in 4 for a Day 2 weight of 5.37 – her total weight for both days was 18.05 and she took 4th place. Robbie brought in 5 keepers for a Day 2 weight of 10.38 and a total weight of 17.21. This moved her up from the Day 1 standing into 6th place. Leslie, like Lisa, wasn’t able to make the necessary adjustment and didn’t bring in any keepers.
Regardless of the outcome, you have to hand it to these ladies for giving it their all in what was difficult conditions.
